Our objective has always been to enable kids to learn while they are ‘in the zone’ and this can only be achieved when they are thinking, creating and having fun at the same time. Therefore, our teaching is ‘play-based’ with the combined elements of drawing, toy model building and games to reinforce the kids’ understanding of concepts. To make the program complete, the activities also include life skill essentials, offering opportunities to young learners to develop critical thinking and sense making as well as to encourage them to be inventive and to adopt inter-disciplinary thinking.

Exploring Numbers, Shapes & Patterns

Topics covered:

A methodically organized module that builds a child’s power of pattern recognition through the exploration of shapes and number operations.

In this first module, the thorough hands-on manipulation of simple & complex, 2D & 3D shapes gives young children an early advantage in geometry in math and key science skills of observation and categorization. 

Numbers and shapes pattern recognition trains critical thinking and logic skills and helps to lay the first steps towards learning complex number concepts and mathematical operations.

Exploring concepts of Time, Money and Sequencing

Topics covered:

The concepts of time and money are learnt through an exciting theme of buying and selling and managing time.  The topics present the perfect real-world setting for learning the Whole-Parts concept, giving the child an early preparation for learning fractions.

 

Sequencing is also cleverly weaved into the lessons to strengthen conceptual and reasoning ability that helps in key academic skills like reading comprehension, scientific inquiry and computational thinking skills.

Exploring Real World Applications of Science

Topics covered:

Everyday application of science concepts unfolds within an engaging storyline of treasure hunting in a jungle.  Every lesson is a new adventure with experimenting of scientific properties and the hands-on application of their newfound knowledge. 

 

Navigating their way through each challenge helps them to better their visual-spatial awareness, logical thinking skills and team work. Data collection and analysis during the lessons completes this quest for science skills.

Exploring Engineering

Topics covered:

The final module of Kinder STEM aims to prepare the child for robotics, which places equal emphasis on mechanism and programming.  The child investigates Simple Machines by creating and building toy models. 

 

By playing with working toy models, he or she understands important concepts like weight, distance and turns and even solve challenges that require the use of multiplication and division.  The cumulation of knowledge and skills gained from the four modules will prepare the child for simple programming and to progress to robotics.
