6. Will there be a make-up lesson if my child is unable to attend the class?
7. Will there be any photos or videos taken?
Photos and videos may be taken during the workshop sessions for the purpose of sharing with parents as well as for our social media platforms and marketing materials. Please inform the trainer in advance if you do not wish your child’s photos to be used for such purposes.
8. How many days in advance must I register my child for the programs?
12. Are your trainers qualified to conduct lessons for special needs children?
3. Can a trial lesson or an assessment be arranged to ascertain my child’s suitability and interest for the program?
The first lesson of both our KinderSTEM (for 4-year-olds) and WeDo Foundation 1 (for 5-year-olds) can be treated as the trial lesson. The fee of this trial lesson will be equivalent to the fee of one lesson of the program.
There is no trial lesson for WeDo Basic (6 – 7-year-olds) and Mindstorms Basic Movement (8-year-old & above) as both programs consist of only two lessons. Furthermore, children of this age group will be able to verbalise their interest and understanding of the lessons well to their parents.
If your child has attended WeDo or Mindstorms robotics lessons before, either with other learning centres or his/ her school, and would like to continue with us, we will require an assessment (of 20 to 30 minutes) to ascertain his/ her proficiency level, especially on programming. After the assessment, we will recommend a suitable level for the child to continue with us. There is no cost for the assessment but a prior appointment needs to be made.
If your child has not attended WeDo or Mindstorms robotics lesson before, he/ she will begin with the basic program.
9. Can the parent sit in with the child during the trial lesson?
Parents will not be allowed to sit in with the child during lessons, including the trial lesson. Our students are expected to be independent learners so as to be able to benefit from our programs. Secondly, a parent’s presence may also distract other students. Besides, due to the COVID-19 situation, our safe management measures allow only the students and teachers to be in the classroom during lessons.
10. My child refuses to enter the centre. Will the class wait for my child before it begins?
It is a good practice to prepare your child, especially prior to attending his or her first lesson. If the child refuses to enter our classroom, his/ her parent or guardian have to calm the child down outside the centre. We will only allow entry to our classroom when the child is ready for the lesson, so as not to disrupt the on-going classes. No refund or make-up class will be given if the child is unable to attend the lesson under such circumstance.
2.Is there a minimum requirement for the child to have to attend the program(s)?
The ability to focus during lessons is the most critical requirement for our programs. Our lessons are objective-oriented, and our teaching method is different from mainstream pre-schools and primary schools. The concepts of the lessons are mostly new to the students and the illustrations of the concepts are verbal, pictorial or through analogies to relate to real-life applications. Thus, the students are required to focus and pay attention so they can apply the concepts through the activities and benefit from the lessons.
As every child develops at a different pace, if a child is not yet ready to remain focused for the required duration of the program, he or she can enrol at a later stage to so as to better benefit from our program.
